What support is available?
The Doncaster Substance Misuse Support Project provides intensive support to individuals who have substance misuse issues or are at risk of developing such issues.
The needs of each client are discussed with their personal support worker after the initial referral.
We then work in partnership with clients to create a support plan tailored to each individual, which is reviewed regularly.
Areas of support may include:
- Advice, advocacy and liaison with statutory and voluntary agencies
- Accessing housing and welfare benefits
- Budgeting, bill paying and debt advice
- Access to healthcare and drug/alcohol treatment
- Relapse Prevention and Harm Reduction
- Maintaining stable accommodation
- Emotional Support
- Confidence building and life skills
- Assistance with finding employment

How can the support be accessed?
To access the support program, clients can either self-refer or can be referred by an agency using our referral form, available on our website.
Some of the agencies that can make referrals to the project are:
- Local Drug Teams
- Probation Service
- Local Authorities
- Health Care Services
- Social Services
- Prison Resettlement Teams

The individual is then invited to our office to discuss the referrals' details and the level of support they require.
All referrals are placed on a waiting list until accommodation becomes available.
