At Action Housing & Support we take our commitment to equality and diversity extremely seriously. We aim to achieve the very best in equal working practices and strive to foster diversity among our staff and service users.

We realise that in order to meet the needs of all communities, we need to work together with other service providers. For this reason we have developed a regional Equality & Diversity Discussion Forum, more information is available here. 

Our strategy to becoming a beacon of best practice in equality and diversity is summarised in the following key pledges:

• To welcome the enhanced duties to promote equality of opportunity on disability and gender grounds and demonstrate significant successes over 12 months on the outcomes for disabled people in their contact with Action Housing & Support.
• To adopt a more rigorous policy development process that will address equality & diversity issues and their implementation.
• To ensure that commitment to equality & diversity becomes core to the job of every member of staff.
• To address the potential of each and every support project to increase its accessibility to under-represented communities. 
• To develop a Service User Involvement strategy that mainstreams equality & diversity throughout our work.
• To develop a procurement policy that supports our work as a social enterprise with demonstrable benefits to our customers and local communities within 12 months.
• To review our recruitment procedures and ensure that we are attracting a diverse range of employment applicants.
